Spiritopia Liqueur

Spiritopia Ginger Liqueur

“To make Spiritopia Ginger Liqueur, the ginger is thin sliced and infused in spirits for several months. We test and measure the development of the ginger intensity. An important aspect of ginger liqueur is that the product is an infusion (or technically a maceration), not a distillation as there is not much fermentable sugar in ginger. The spirits we use are distilled six times and we test to make sure there are no wicked aldehydes or other off flavors.

Once the infusion has matured, it is blended with raw organic sugar and premium spices including genuine Madagascar Bourbon vanilla to achieve the perfect intensity of bold ginger flavor in a warm, complex liqueur. Finally, the finished ginger liqueur is racked (allowed to settle) and then bottled and labeled by hand in small batches. Enjoy!” Spiritopia.com

Spiritopia Apple Liqueur

“Spiritopia Apple Liqueur is a unique all-apple spirit bursting with the flavor of a half a bushel of apples in every bottle (750ml). Several varieties of Pacific Northwest apples are juiced and fermented slowly with yeast that enhance the aroma. The hard cider is distilled in a small still to create a delicate brandy. American oak barrels contribute nuances that complement the sweet-tart apples. Once the brandy is mature, the liqueur is made by carefully blending the brandy, the cider, and the juice. No other fruits, grains, colors, flavors, or preservatives are used. Spiritopia Apple Liqueur has a balanced, intense apple flavor that is unmatched by any other spirit.” Spiritopia.com

“Tanqueray Bloomsbury gin features prominent notes of Tuscan juniper and other botanicals, such as coriander, angelica, winter savory and cassia bark. It follows recent upscale limited-edition launches from the brand, including Tanqueray Old Tom gin in 2014 and the citrus-heavy Tanqueray Malacca in 2013. Absolut Elyx Single Estate Handcrafted Vodka

“ABSOLUT ELYX is manually distilled in a 1921 copper rectification still known as Column 51, made entirely of copper. It is operated by a selected few who inherited their knowledge and expertise from past generations of spirit and vodka makers.

Our silky textured vodka is a result of the single estate wheat, the manual operation and the old copper catalyzation process. The copper naturally catalyzes trace compounds in the spirit, purifying the vodka and adding a highly prized silky texture and taste.” Absolut.com

Trails End Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished with Oregon Oak

“Trail’s End™ is an ultra premium, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished with Oregon Oak. Crafted using premium barrels of Kentucky straight bourbon, Trail’s End traveled along the treacherous terrain from Kentucky to Oregon following the path that Lewis and Clark once blazed. Not too far from the end of the Oregon Trail, our bourbon is finished in Hood River with Oregon Oak and the result is exceptional!

Smell the aroma of floral honeysuckle, apricot, spearmint, and orange blossom with roasted hazelnut and traces of cereal sweetness and chocolate. Next, take a sip and enjoy the smooth sweet malt and chocolate flavor bolstered by toasted hazelnut with notes of tobacco and a touch of rye. Lastly, savor the long and warm finish, oily and buttery with a lovely malt spice kick and slight char note.” Hrdspirits.com.

“St. George Fruit Liqueurs have an impeccable pedigree: They begin as our flagship pear and raspberry brandy, to which we add luscious fruit juice.

This brings down the proof (from 40% alcohol by volume to 20% alcohol by volume) and transforms our crystal clear brandies into jewel-toned liqueurs.”

Raspberry Liqueur

“A show-stopper. This is what all raspberry liqueurs aspire to, with a luxurious mouthfeel and just the right balance between sweet and tart.”

More New Whiskey!

1792 Sweet Wheat Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

“1792 Sweet Wheat is a wheated bourbon, aged eight years at the Bardstown facility. (The standard 1792 uses rye.) Fret not about flavorings or added sugar. There’s nothing overly “sweet” about the whiskey beyond the house style of the whiskey itself; the sugars are derived from standard barrel aging the same way they are in any other straight whiskey.

1792 Sweet Wheat starts off not with sugar but with lumberyard notes; the nose is surprisingly forward with wood, tempered with tropical notes and a touch of peach. On the palate, it’s not especially sweet either, offering notes of tinned fruit, coconut, cinnamon, ample vanilla, and some gingerbread notes coming up the rear.” Drinkhacker.com

Blade & Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

“Golden brown in color, the nose has many of the signature characteristics of Stitzel-Weller whiskey including bright green apple, banana, cinnamon spice, and oak. While there’s no age statement on this Blade and Bow (and with the solera system, age statements get muddled), it’s clear from the strength of the oak on the nose that there are some older stocks in this whiskey. The aromas on the nose are fairly well integrated, and although it’s spicy, it’s far less fiery than we’d expect at this ABV.

The entry for Blade and Bow is light and a little thin, much lighter than expected. The green apple and banana from the nose are there, along with caramel and a flash of the oak spice from the nose. In the midpalate, the oak spice ramps up a bit and is joined by black pepper and cinnamon. The level of spice is fairly balanced and light. Underneath, the spice is the tart green apple note from the entry. As with the entry, the finish is shorter and lighter than expected. It’s slightly dry and tart with just a hint of that oak spice.” Drinkspirits.com

Barrel Hitch American Whiskey

“Barrel Hitch is an american whiskey bottled at 80 proof – The brainchild of two professional women with a passion for spirits, Master Distiller Mel Heim and Chief Branding Officer Carrie Earles, Barrel Hitch American Whiskey embodies the idea that all whiskey is not created equal. Whiskey is a complex, layered spirit that does not need embellishing for the sake of inclusion. What is more tempting than brown sugar and vanilla? Buttery oak and a silky body? Barrel Hitch was created with one goal in mind: Let’s make a whiskey for everyone. Bottled at 80 proof, Barrel Hitch American Whiskey hits the mark with a smooth body and notes of toasted oak, green apple and vanilla. This remarkable profile is the result of a meticulous blending process of numerous finished whiskey sources. This step is a crucial part of exacting the whiskey as every barrel contributes a unique scent, flavor, mouth feel and color that ultimately must be balanced for consistency and quality. This approachable spirit is a shining example of how science and art, when properly executed, form a harmonious union that redefines the standard.” eastsidedistilling.com

Barrel Hitch Oregon Oak American Whiskey

“Barrel Hitch Oregon Oak is an american whiskey bottled at 88 proof – Here we took the southern stand-by and brought it home to the Northwest. Oregon’s diverse climate grows a rare, drought resistant oak that was primarily used as fire wood as it was hard to season without warping the planks. However, some clever vintners knew the potential of the mighty oak that no one wanted. Motivated by the rising cost of importing French varietals and the importance of making the craft more sustainable they set off on a grand experiment that changed the cask landscape forever. As luck would have it the resulting wines were brilliant. Today there is a two year wait for new barrels and we’re proud owners of a small handful available. These are used as agents for a second aging of our Barrel Hitch which we will rest up to 4 months. The resulting whiskey is layered with high octane flavors from the first barrel and a smattering of savory spice from the second.” Eastsidedistilling.com

New Gin

Uncle Val’s Restorative Gin

“Uncle Val’s Restorative Gin offers a somewhat different formulation. In lieu of juniper, cucumber, lemon, sage, and lavender — the key ingredients in Botanical — Restorative offers juniper, coriander, cucumber, and rose petals.”

The nose presents juniper and lemony citrus (surprising, as there’s no citrus in the gin), a brisk and powerful introduction that should keep fans of more traditional, juniper-forward gins happy.

The body folds in the florals — lots of rose petal character (considerably more than Hendrick’s) that fortunately manages to stay on this side of the perfume counter. The coriander adds an earthy element that is present mainly on the finish. Cucumbers are the only element that don’t really make a major showing. Intended to be “cooling,” the gin does have a gentler (and sweeter) let-down on the back end than you might expect, which takes things out on a refreshing and, well, restorative finish.” Find the complete review at: drinkhacker.com.

Uncle Val’s Peppered Gin

“Uncle Val’s Peppered Gin is both an excellent sipping gin and a highly versatile mixing gin for cocktails. It represents a truly unique flavor profile, starting with sharp peppercorn and evolving into char and juniper. Bold yet smooth, it stays true to the Uncle Val’s line of gins.” 35maplestreet.com.

Tasting Notes: “Crisp, earthy aroma of juniper, followed by smoky bell peppers and a clear, peppery spice on the palate. Finish is a touch smoky, with plenty of savoriness to go around.” Caskers.com.

The Walter Collective Gin

“It’s the slightest, tiniest bit of grapefruit peel. That’s the ingredient that gives this gin its shapely nose. Then there’s the juniper-not a domestic one- but a softer, Italian one. To be sure, each of the eight ingredients in Walter’s Gin was chosen for a specific reason, in an exact proportion. Go on, take a sip, and see how they unravel in a stupendous flurry of sweet, sour and spice!”

“The Walter Collective was formed to create a unique, artisanal spirits. Founded and led by Matt Melaik, The Walter Collective gets its name from the late Walter J. Bade, an inspired artist and Matt’s grandfather. You can read more about our spirits, the collective concept and Walter at: Thewaltercollective.com.  Small batch gin, distilled in Bend, Oregon.
